Hexameter
Hexameter ist eine metrische Linie von Vers, bestehend aus sechs Fuß. Es war das Standard-Epic-Meter in der klassischen griechischen und lateinischen Literatur, wie in der Ilias, Odyssee und Aeneid. Seine Verwendung in anderen Genres der Komposition umfasst Horazs Satire, Ovids Metamorphosen und die Hymnen von Orpheus. Nach der griechischen Mythologie wurde Hexameter von dem Gott Hermes erfunden. Im klassischen Hexameter folgen die sechs Füße diesen Regeln: ▪ Ein Fuß kann aus zwei langen Silben bestehen, eine Spondine; Oder eine lange und zwei kurze Silben, ein Dactyl. ▪ Die ersten vier Füße können entweder eine von ihnen enthalten. ▪ Das Fünfte ist fast immer ein Dactyl, und das letzte muss ein Sponde sein. Eine kurze Silbe ist eine Silbe mit einem kurzen Vokal und einem Konsonanten am Ende. Eine lange Silbe ist eine Silbe, die entweder einen langen Vokal, zwei oder mehr Konsonanten am Ende oder beide hat. Allerdings werden die Räume zwischen den Wörtern nicht gezählt, so dass zum Beispiel "Hut" normalerweise kurz ist, aber es ist lange in "Hut werfen", wegen der "th" im nächsten Wort. In Shelleys Adonais ist die letzte Zeile jeder Strophe ein Hexameter.
