Die Einwirkung von Wellen kann die Bewohner in der Küstenzone vertreiben. Mit der hohen Sonneneinstrahlung der Zwischenlandschaft kann der Temperaturbereich alles von sehr heiß mit voller Sonne bis nahezu Einfrieren in kälteren Klimazonen sein. Einige Mikroklimate in der Küstenzone werden durch lokale Merkmale und größere Pflanzen wie Mangroven gemildert.
