Westliche dohle
Die westliche Dohle, auch bekannt als die eurasische Dohle, europäische Dohle oder einfach Dohle, ist ein Passerine Vogel in der Krähe Familie. Gefunden in ganz Europa, Westasien und Nordafrika, ist es meist resident, obwohl Nord- und Ostpopulationen im Winter nach Süden wandern. Es werden vier Unterarten erkannt, die sich vor allem in der Färbung des Gefieders auf Kopf und Nacken unterscheiden. Linnaeus beschrieb es zuerst formell und gab ihm den Namen Corvus monedula. Eine spätere Analyse seiner DNA deutet darauf hin, dass es mit seinem engsten Verwandten die daurische Dohle ein frühes Ableger aus der Gattung Corvus ist und möglicherweise deutlich genug ist, um eine Umgliederung in einer separaten Gattung, Coloeus, zu rechtfertigen. Der gemeinsame Name leitet sich aus dem Wort "Jack", was bedeutet "klein", und "daw", die native Englisch Name für den Vogel. Mit einer Länge von 34-39 Zentimetern ist die westliche Dohle ein schwarzgeflochtener Vogel mit grauem Nacken und unverwechselbaren blassgrauen Iris. Es ist gesellig und stimmlich, in kleinen Gruppen mit einer komplexen sozialen Struktur in Ackerland, offenen Wald, auf Küstenklippen und in städtischen Einstellungen leben.
