Viele Illusionisten, z. B. Kartenmagier, verwenden sowohl die Aufstockung als auch die Aufmerksamkeit der Zuschauer. Es wird also auch von jeder raschen Art des Sprechens und von einem Patter-Song benutzt, in dem eine sehr große Anzahl von Wörtern mit hoher Geschwindigkeit gesungen werden muss, um die Musik anzupassen. Ein westlicher Platztanzrufer kann das Patter - in Form von metrischen Linien, oft von Unsinn - interpolieren, um zwischen den Befehlen an die Tänzer zu füllen.
