Kartoffel
Die Kartoffel ist eine stärkehaltige, knusprige Ernte aus dem mehrjährigen Nachtschatten Solanum tuberosum L. Die Kartoffel wurde ursprünglich angenommen, dass sie unabhängig an mehreren Orten domestiziert worden war, aber später genetische Tests der Vielzahl von Sorten und Wildarten erwies sich als einziger Ursprung für Kartoffeln im Bereich des heutigen südlichen Perus und des äußersten nordwestlichen Boliviens, wo sie waren Domestiziert vor ungefähr 7.000-10.000 Jahren. Nach Jahrhunderten der selektiven Zucht gibt es jetzt über tausend verschiedene Kartoffelarten.
