Predation
In der Ökologie ist die Prädation eine biologische Interaktion, bei der ein Raubtier auf seine Beute füttert. Die Raubtiere können ihre Beute vor der Fütterung auf sie töten, aber der Vorgang der Prädation führt oft zum Tod ihrer Beute und zur eventuellen Absorption des Beutegewebes durch Konsum. Andere Verbrauchskategorien sind Herbivory, Mykophagie und Detritivator, der Konsum von totem organischem Material. Alle diese Verbrauchskategorien fallen unter die Rubrik der Verbrauchersysteme. Es kann oft schwierig sein, verschiedene Arten von Fütterungsverhalten zu trennen. Zum Beispiel, einige parasitäre Arten Beute auf einem Wirtsorganismus und dann legen ihre Eier auf sie für ihre Nachkommen zu fressen, während es weiter zu leben oder auf seine verfallenden Leiche, nachdem es gestorben ist. Das Hauptmerkmal der Prädation ist jedoch der direkte Einfluss des Raubtiers auf die Beutepopulation.
