Pyraloidea
Die Pyraloidea sind eine Motten-Überfamilie, die etwa 16.000 beschriebene Arten weltweit enthält, und wahrscheinlich sind mindestens noch so viele noch zu beschreiben. Sie sind in der Regel ziemlich kleine Motten. Diese Überfamilie enthielt die Hyblaeidae, Thyrididae, Alucitidae, Pterophoridae und Pyralidae. Derzeit sind die Crambidae gewöhnlich von den Pyralidae getrennt, aber die ersten vier Familien sind jetzt jeweils als eine ausgeprägte Superfamilie abgespalten. Einige Gattungen trotzen immer noch einfacher Klassifizierung und wurden den Crambidae oder den Pyralidae verschieden zugeordnet. Unter allen Lepidoptera zeigen Pyraloide die verschiedensten Lebensgeschichte Anpassungen. Die Larven der meisten Arten ernähren sich von lebenden Pflanzen entweder intern oder extern als Blattrollen, Blattbläser Blattgräber, Bohrer, Wurzelzuführungen und Saatgutförderer. Einige Arten leben parasitär in Ameisennestern, treten auf Skala Insekten, oder leben in den Nestern der Bienen. Die Larven der Acentropinae sind an das Leben unter Wasser angepasst, und bestimmte Phycitinae und Pyralinae sind an sehr trockene Umgebungen angepasst und ihre Larven ernähren sich von gelagerten Nahrungsmittelprodukten. Andere ernähren sich von tierischen Detritus wie Aas und Kot.
