Quo vadis
Quo vadis Ist eine lateinische Phrase, die bedeutet "Wo gehst du hin?", Oder genauer: "Wohin gehst du?". Der moderne Gebrauch der Phrase bezieht sich auf eine christliche Tradition über den hl. Petrus. Nach den apokryphen Akten des Petrus fliegt Petrus aus der wahrscheinlichen Kreuzigung in Rom in den Händen der Regierung, und auf der Straße außerhalb der Stadt begegnet er einem auferstandenen Jesus. In der lateinischen Übersetzung fragt Peter Jesus "Quo vadis?", Auf den er antwortet: "Romam vado iterum crucifigi". Peter gewinnt dadurch den Mut, seinen Dienst fortzusetzen und kehrt in die Stadt zurück, um schließlich durch den Gekreuzigten umgedreht zu werden. Die Phrase tritt auch ein paar Mal in der Vulgata-Übersetzung der Bibel auf, vor allem in Johannes 13:36, als Petrus Jesus die gleiche Frage stellt, auf die er antwortet: "Wohin ich gehe, kannst du mir jetzt nicht folgen, aber du wirst folgen mich." Die Kirche von Domine Quo Vadis in Rom ist gebaut, wo nach der Legende das Treffen zwischen Peter und Jesus stattfand.
