Segeln
Segeln ist der Antrieb eines Fahrzeugs und die Kontrolle über seine Bewegung mit großen Folien genannt Segel. Durch das Ändern der Takelage, des Ruders und manchmal des Kiels oder des Schwerpunktes verwaltet ein Seemann die Kraft des Windes auf den Segeln, um das Schiff relativ zu seinem umgebenden Medium zu bewegen und seine Richtung und Geschwindigkeit zu ändern. Die Beherrschung der Fähigkeiten erfordert Erfahrung in wechselnden Wind- und Meeresverhältnissen, sowie Kenntnisse über Segelboote selbst und ein Verständnis der Umgebung. Zwar gibt es noch einige Orte in der Welt, in denen Segel-angetriebene Passagiere, Fischerei und Handelsschiffe verwendet werden, diese Handwerk sind seltener geworden, da Verbrennungsmotoren auch in den ärmsten und entlegensten Gebieten wirtschaftlich lebensfähig geworden sind. In den meisten Ländern wird das Segeln als Freizeitaktivität oder als Sport genossen. Segeln oder Segeln können in Rennsport und Kreuzfahrt eingeteilt werden. Kreuzfahrt kann ausgedehnte Offshore- und Ozean-Kreuzung-Ausflüge, Küstensegeln innerhalb des Anblicks des Landes und Tageszeitung umfassen.
