Ein Trenntrichter, auch Trenntrichter, Trenntrichter oder umgangssprachlicher Trichter genannt, ist ein Stück Laborglas, das in Flüssig-Flüssig-Extraktionen verwendet wird, um die Komponenten eines Gemisches in zwei nicht mischbare Lösemittelphasen unterschiedlicher Dichte zu trennen Phasen sind wässrig und das andere ein nichtpolares lipophiles organisches Lösungsmittel wie Ether, MTBE, Dichlormethan, Chloroform oder Ethylacetat. Die meisten organischen Lösungsmittel schwimmen auf einer wässrigen Phase, obwohl wichtige Ausnahmen die meisten halogenierten Lösungsmittel sind. Das für die Extraktion verwendete organische Lösungsmittel darf nicht mit der zu extrahierenden Substanz oder mit Wasser reagieren. Es sollte auch einen niedrigen Siedepunkt haben, so dass es leicht aus dem Produkt entfernt werden kann. Ein Trenntrichter hat die Form eines Kegels mit einem halbkugelförmigen Ende. Es hat einen Stopper an der Spitze und Hahn, an der Unterseite. Trenn-Trichter, die in Laboratorien verwendet werden, sind typischerweise aus Borosilikatglas hergestellt und ihre Hähne sind aus Glas oder PTFE hergestellt.
