Stabat Mater
Stabat Mater Dolorosa, oft als Stabat Mater bezeichnet, ist eine katholische Hymne aus dem 13. Jahrhundert an Maria, die dem Franziskaner Jacopone da Todi und dem Unschuldigen III verschieden zugeschrieben wird. Es geht um die Sorgen der Maria. Der Titel der traurigen Hymne ist ein Inbegriff der ersten Zeile, Stabat mater dolorosa. Die Stabat-Mater-Hymne, eine der mächtigsten und unmittelbarsten mittelalterlichen Gedichte, meditiert über das Leiden von Maria, die Mutter Jesu Christi, während seiner Kreuzigung. Es wird an der Liturgie an der Gedenkstätte der Jungfrau der Schmerzen gesungen. Der Stabat Mater wurde von vielen Komponisten auf die Musik gesetzt, wobei die bekanntesten Einstellungen von Palestrina, Pergolesi, Alessandro Scarlatti und Domenico Scarlatti, Vivaldi, Haydn, Rossini, Poulenc und Dvořák waren. Der Stabat Mater war bis zum Ende des 14. Jahrhunderts bekannt und Georgius Stella schrieb über seine Verwendung im Jahre 1388, während andere Historiker ihre Verwendung später im selben Jahrhundert bemerken. In der Provence, etwa 1399, wurde es während der neun Tage Prozessionen verwendet.
