Tokelau / toʊkəlaʊ / ist ein Gebiet von Neuseeland im Südpazifik, das aus drei tropischen Korallenatollen mit einer kombinierten Landfläche von 10 km2 und einer Bevölkerung von etwa 1.400 besteht. Sein Kapital dreht sich jährlich zwischen den drei Atollen. Tokelau liegt nördlich der Samoanischen Inseln, die Swains Island ist die nächste, östlich von Tuvalu, südlich der Phönix Islands, südwestlich der weiter entfernten Line Islands und nordwestlich der Cook Islands. Die Generalversammlung der Vereinten Nationen bezeichnet Tokelau ein Nicht-Selbstverwaltungsgebiet. Bis 1976 war der offizielle Name Tokelau-Inseln. Es ist ein neuseeländisches Territorium und wird manchmal von seinem älteren kolonialen Namen, den Unions-Inseln, bezeichnet.
