Wader
Waders, genannt Shorebirds in Nordamerika, sind Mitglieder der Ordnung Charadriiformes, mit Ausnahme der mehr marine Web-footed Seevögel Gruppen. Letzteres sind die Skuas, Möwen, Seeschwalben, Skimmer und Auks. Auch die Pratincolen und der Krabben-Regenpfeifer, die größere Gewalt an Watvögel tragen, sind eng mit den Seevögeln verwandt. Das verlässt etwa 210 Arten, von denen die meisten mit Feuchtgebieten oder Küstengebieten verbunden sind. Viele Arten von arktischen und gemäßigten Regionen sind stark wandernd, aber tropische Vögel sind oft resident oder bewegen sich nur als Reaktion auf Niederschlagsmuster. Einige der arktischen Arten, wie z. B. kleine Stint, gehören zu den längsten Distanzmigranten und verbringen die Nicht-Zuchtperiode auf der südlichen Hemisphäre. Die Mehrheit der Arten essen kleine Wirbellose aus Schlamm oder exponierten Boden.
