Taufe
Die Taufe bezieht sich allgemein auf das Wohltätigkeitsritual des Wassers, das von vielen Religionen praktiziert wird, einschließlich des Christentums, des Mandäismus und des Sikhismus. Die christliche Taufe kommt aus der Mikwe, einer jüdischen Wohltätigkeitsorganisation. Das Wort Taufe leitet sich von dem griechischen Wort βάπτειν ab, das eine untergeordnete Bedeutung hat, nämlich "eintauchen, baden oder waschen". Für einige Gruppen mit religiösen Überzeugungen ist die Taufzeremonie genau das gleiche wie etwas ganz ins Wasser zu tauchen, damit das Wasser vorbei ist. Auf der anderen Seite ist die Taufe für andere Gruppen ein symbolischer Ausdruck, der "assoziieren" bedeutet und nichts mit der weltlichen Nächstenliebe zu tun hat.
