Floren - Goldmünze mit einem Gewicht von ca. 3,5 Gramm, gepeitscht durch Florenz seit 1252. Sein Pendant in Venedig Dukaten.. Najważniejszym wyjątkiem są floreny bite od XIV wieku przez władców królestwa Węgier, gdzie w tymże stuleciu odkryto największe w Europie złoża złota. Innym wyjątkiem jest bardzo niewielka liczebnie emisja florenów polskich Władysława Łokietka z inskrypcją S STANISLAVS POLE - WLADISLAVS DI G REX, której wygląd został zaczerpnięty po połowie z typu węgierskiego i florenckiego typu za pośrednictwem florenów węgierskich typ ten naśladujących, o czym świadczy postać świętego Stanisława w rewersie. W zbiorach polskich znajduje się obecnie tylko jeden egzemplarz tej monety. W Polsce florenem nazywano będące w obiegu monety złote.
