blastula

Blastula

The blastula is an early embryonic stage of multicellular animals following the Morula stage and terminating the furrow. In the narrower sense, only the "bladder sac" occurring in many animals, which encloses a fluid-filled cavity called blastocoel, is designated as blastula. After the formation of the blastula, the blastulae, a multi-layered gastrula is developed, the germinal plant of which is often divided irreversibly into two or three cotyledons.
