Chiropterophilie

Chiropterophilie

Chiropterophilia is understood in botany as a feature syndrome in plants which is associated with the pollination by bats, H. The adaptations of plants to bats as pollinators. This is not a matter of insect-eating bats, but also the tropical and subtropical fruit-eating bats and airports. Chiropterophilic plants often bloom at night, their flowers have an intense fragrance, Such as cabbage or a sour note. They produce very much nectar, which has a slimy consistency. Since the pollinators are quite large, the flowers are usually rough and wide open. A lot of pollen is often produced, which stick to the snout with the nectar and thus ensure the pollination of the next flower. Typical colors of the flowers are greenish violet or dirty whitish to yellowish.
