WHAT DOES FANDOM MEAN IN GERMAN?

Fandom refers to all the fans of a specific phenomenon, such as a particular author, a film or a genre. The term is used especially often for the fans of certain works from the fantasy or science fiction area. Within the fandom, the underlying works are frequently developed further imaginatively. Oftentimes numerous additional works surround the actual main body and are exchanged within the fandom. These fan fiction can be short stories, but can also assume a scale that reaches or even exceeds the main work. If the sideline is about pictures, one speaks of fan-art. Shippers are fans, who are particularly committed to the love affairs of the main industry. Organized, larger gatherings of fans are called convention.
