Haiku

Haiku is a traditional Japanese poem form, which is nowadays widespread worldwide. Haiku is considered the shortest poem in the world. Among the most eminent Haiku poets are Matsuo Bashō, Yosa Buson, Kobayashi Issa and Masaoka Shiki. Bashō renewed the Haikai poetry with his pupils and allowed her recognition as a serious literature. Shiki is considered to be the founder of modern haiku. It was he who shaped the term haiku. Japanese haiku consist mostly of three word groups of 5 - 7 - 5 lute units, with the words in the word groups vertically aligned. An essential part of haiku is concreteness and the reference to the present. Especially traditional haiku indicate with the Kigo a season. The unconcerned, open texts, which only complete themselves in the reader's experience, are regarded as essential features. The text does not say everything, feelings are rarely named. They are to be opened up only through the specified concrete things and the context. From a part of the Haijin, the Haiku is distinguished from the Senryu.
