The term "None" refers to an interval composed of an octave and a second and a nine-note scale of a diatonic, heptatonic scale. Note: Nonenintervalle The large None includes fourteen, the small None thirteen semitones. In the counterpoint and in the harmonic theorems, nons are normally treated as seconds. In the functional harmonic, the ninth v. a. In the cantante seventh chord, and in the jazz harmonic as a fourth third above the fundamental note. A psychoacoustic effect is used for the None. Thus, a harmony of large or small ones with the fundamental tone is perceived as much less unpleasant than the coincidence of large or small second with the fundamental note. Although actually dissonant, a chord formed by fundamental, pure fifth, and great none is almost perceived as consonant, when played in Pythagorean, pure, or equilibrium. In the context of the partial sound series, for example in organ registers, the 9th partial tone is designated as None.

Als None bezeichnet man in der Musik ein Intervall, welches sich aus Oktave und Sekunde zusammensetzt und neun Tonstufen einer diatonischen, heptatonischen Tonleiter umspannt. Notenbeispiel: Nonenintervalle Die große None umfasst vierzehn, die kleine None dreizehn Halbtonschritte. Im Kontrapunkt und im harmonischen Satz sind Nonen normalerweise wie Sekunden zu behandeln. In der Funktionsharmonik fällt der None v. a. im Dominantseptnonakkord, in der Jazzharmonik als vierte Terz über dem Grundton eine besondere Rolle zu. Bei der None kommt ein psychoakustischer Effekt zum Tragen. So wird ein Zusammenklang von großer oder kleiner None mit dem Grundton als wesentlich weniger unangenehm empfunden als der Zusammenklang von großer oder kleiner Sekunde mit dem Grundton. Obwohl eigentlich dissonant wird ein Akkord gebildet aus Grundton, reiner Quinte und großer None schon fast als konsonant empfunden, wenn in pythagoräischer, reiner oder gleichstufiger Stimmung gespielt wird. Im Zusammenhang mit der Partialtonreihe, zum Beispiel bei Orgelregistern, wird der 9. Partialton als None bezeichnet.
