Meleagris gallopavo

Wild turkey, also known as guajolote gallipavo, northern turkey, blink, chompipe, guanajo, cocono, or simply turkey, is a species of galliform bird of the family Phasianidae. It is native to North America but has been introduced as a domestic bird in almost the entire world. Its population at the time of the arrival of Europeans is estimated at 40 million, being strongly hunted or domesticated. At present it is estimated that there are 4 million in the wild and many millions more in the domestic state. El pavo salvaje, también conocido como guajolote gallipavo, guajolote norteño, pisca, chompipe, guanajo, cocono, o simplemente pavo, es una especie de ave galliforme de la familia Phasianidae. Es originario de América del Norte, pero se ha introducido como ave doméstica en casi todo el mundo. Su población al momento de la llegada de los europeos se calcula en 40 millones de ejemplares, siendo fuertemente cazada o domesticada. En la actualidad se estima que hay 4 millones en estado salvaje y muchos millones más en estado doméstico.
