WHAT DOES CRAN MEAN IN SPANISH?
Cran
The cran in typography is a notch that has each letter of printing so that, when placed in the composter, the caster can know if it has been in the convenient position. More technically, this word is defined as the cleavage of the letters in the tree, and serves for the writer to identify to the touch the position and the letter. Some letters have two and three cranes. They began to be used in the middle of the sixteenth century, and was done by placing a wire in the mold where the type fused. In digital typography, the cran has disappeared, because it is meaningless. Some writers use cran as synonymous with English kern or kerning, which refers to the process of adjusting the spacing between letter pairs. With this value has little use, as it is preferred to leave the English term or other alternatives are used as interletraje or interletra.
