खाय । द्रितीया को तेरह, इसी प्रकार क्रमश: एक एक ग्रास
नित्य घटाता हुआ कृष्ण चतुर्दशी के दिन एक ग्रास खाय और
अमावस्या के दिन कुछ न खाय, उपवास करे । इस व्रत में
ग्रासों की संख्या आरंभऔर अत में कम तथा बीच में अधिक
होती है, इसी से इसे यदमध्य चांद्रायण कहते हैं । इसी ब्रत
को यदि कृष्ण प्रतिपदा से पूर्वेंक्त क्रम से (अर्थात् प्रतिपदा
को चौदह ग्रास, द्रितीया को तेरह इत्यादि) आरंभ करे और
पूर्णिमा को पूरे पंद्रह ग्रास खाकर समाप्त करे तो वह पिपि-
लिका तनुमध्य चांद्रायण भी होगा । कल्पतरु के मत से एक
यतिचांद्रायण होता है, जिसमें एक महीने तक नित्य तीन तीन
ग्रास खाकर रहना पड़ना है । सुभीते के लिये चांद्रायण व्रत
का एक और विधान भी है । इसमें महीने भर के सब ग्रासों
को जोड़कर तीस से भाग देने से जितने ग्रास आते हैं, उतने
ग्रास नित्य खाकर महीने भर रहना पड़ता है । महीने भर के
ग्रासो की संख्या २५ होती है, जिसमें तीस का भाग देने से
७ /?/१/२; ग्रास होते हैं । पल प्रमाण का एक ग्रास लेने से पाव भर के लगभग अन्न होता है अत: इतना ही हविष्यान्न नित्य खाकर
रहना पड़ता है । मनु, पराशर, बौद्धायन, इत्यादि सब
स्मिृतियों में इसव्रत का उल्लेख है । गोतम के मत से इस व्रत के करनेवाले को चंद्रलोक की प्राप्ति होती है । सिमृतियों में
पापों और अपराधों के प्रायश्चित्त के लिये भी इस व्रत का
विधान है ।
२. एक मात्रिक छंद जिसके प्रत्येक चरण में ११ ओर १० के
विराम से २१ मात्राएँ होती है पहले विराम पर जगण और
दूसरे पर रगण होना चाहिए । जैसे,—हरि हर कृपानिधान
परम पद दीजिए । प्रभु जू दयानिकेत, शरण रख लीजिए ।
