एक प्रसिद्ध क्षुप जो खीरी
रेतीली जमीन पर अथवा नदियों के किनारे अधिकता से
होता है ।
विशेष—इसके पत्ते ३-४ अंगुल चौड़े, हाथ डेढ़ हाथ लंबे, दोनों
किनारों पर अनीदार, बहुत मोटे और गूदेदार होते हैं जिनके
अंदर हरे रंग का और लसीला गूदा होता है । यह गूदा बहुत
पुष्टिकारक समझा जाता है और कई रोगों में व्यवहृत होता है । एलुआ इसी के रस से बनाया जाता है । वैद्यक में यह
शीतल, कडुआ, कफनाशक और पित्त, खाँसी, विष, श्वास
तथा कुष्ठ आदि को दूर करनेवाला माना गया है । पत्तों के
बीच से एक मोटा डंडा या मूसला निकलता है जो मधुर और
कृमि तथा पित्त नाशक कहा गया है । इसी डंडे में लाल फूल
निकलता है जो भारी होता है और वात, पित्त तथा कृमिॉ
का नाशक बतलाया गया है ।
