आनेवाली एक लता का नाम ।
विशेष—यह लता हिमालय पर्वत पर झेलम नदी से आसाम तक

लंका में पाई जाती है । इसकी पत्तियाँ गोल और कुछ कुछ
नुकीली होती है । यह लता पेड़ों पर पैलती है और उन्हें
आच्छादित कर लेती है । चैत के महीने में इसमें घौद के घौद
फुल लगते हैं औऱ सारी लता फुलों से लदी हुई दिखाई पड़ती है । फुलों के झड़ जाने पर इसमें नीले नीले फल लगते हैं जो
पकने पर पीले रंग के और मटर के बराबर होते हैं और
जिनके भीतर से लाल लाल दाने निकलते हैं । इन दानों में तेल
का अंश अधिक होता है जिससे इन्हें पेरकर तेल निकाला
जाता है । मद्रास में उत्तरीय अरकाट तथा विशाखापटम,
दलौरा आदि स्थानों में इसका तेल बहुत अधिक तैयार होता है । यह तेल नारंगी रंग का होता है और औषध में काम
आता है । वैद्यक के अनुसार इसका स्वाद चरपरापन लिए
कड़ुवा, इसकी प्रकृति रुक्ष और गर्म तथा इसका गुण अग्नि,
मेघा स्मृतिवर्धक और वात, कफ तथा दाह का नाशक बतलाया
गया है ।
