Drawback is an effort to prevent customs duties from burdening on raw materials, resulting in increased costs for domestic companies. The State can then repay the duty paid on them if and when the finished product is re-exported.

The definition of drawback in the dictionary is reimbursement, upon export of a finished product, of the customs duty on the goods previously imported for the production of the product itself.
