Aequorin
Aequorin is a photoprotein discovered, extracted and purified from Aequorea victoria by Akuma Shimomura and Frank H. Johnson (then Princeton University) in 1962. Although Aequorin can also be used as Japanese notation, Shimomura comments that aequorin is correct. Aequorin emits light by sensing the concentration of calcium in jellyfly luminescent cells.
