Homs
Homs (Homs, Arabic: حمص, Ḥimṣ, Himsch, Hims) is a city in the western part of Syria (Syrian Arab Republic), the prefecture capital of Homs. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea a little inland and the sea level is about 450 m along the Olongsez River. The current population ranges from an estimate of 650,000 people to an estimate of 1,200,000 people. It is located between Damascus and Aleppo, the two largest cities of Syria, 160 km north of Damascus and 190 km south of Aleppo. It is the third largest city in Syria and is also a linking point between Mediterranean coastal cities such as Tartus and inland cities such as Damascus and Aleppo.
