Lahad Datu (Lahad Datu) is a town belonging to Rahadatu County in Sabah Province Tawu province in eastern Malaysia, northeast of Borneo. Located on the peninsula which is the northern side of the Celebes Sea Dabel Bay. The population estimate was around 118,000 in 1991 survey and 156,059 in the 2000 census. The town is surrounded by cocoa and oil palm plantations. There are harbors used for exporting timber and Lahadatu airport for domestic flight.
