minor
A minor refers to a person who has not reached the age of 19 under the Korean Civil Code. Age is calculated by inverting the birth date. Examples of legislative acts that determine adulthood include the senate sentencing system of the Swiss Civil Code and the self-governing system of the French Civil Code. In the Civil Code of Korea, minors are aged by marriage, so that at the same time as the marriage is established, minors have the same abilities as adults. Adult age is limited to legal marriage. However, in the application of the Public Official Election Law, the Juvenile Protection Act, and the Labor Standards Act, it is still a minor. On the other hand, under the Korean Penal Code, a minor is considered to be a person who is under 14 years of age and not capable of responsibility.
