Afakia

Afakia is a condition where the eye has lost its original crystalline lens, either through surgery due to cataracts or trauma. This condition can also occur from birth, or when the baby has a systemic disease. Its nature if detected at birth, it is known as congenital cataract. Congenital cataracts are opiates or incomplete crystalline lenses that can prevent vision. It can cause visible or total vision blurring. Congenital cataracts usually occur in both eyes while cataracts caused by trauma usually occur in one eye. If cataracts can not be detected early, it can cause deprivation in the baby. This is due to a reduction in the stimulus for vision so the baby is experiencing a low level of vision. Complications of vision that can occur as a result of reduced vision stimuli in the early age are ambliopia, nistagmus and squint. Treatment or rehabilitation / rehabilitation of vision for children akafia should be accelerated immediately after cataract surgery.

Afakia adalah satu keadaan di mana mata telah kehilangan kanta kristalin yang asal, sama ada melalui pembedahan disebabkan oleh katarak atau trauma. Keadaan ini juga boleh berpunca sejak lahir, ataupun bila bayi mempunyai penyakit sistemik. Kebiasannya jika dikesan semasa lahir, ia dikenali sebagai katarak kongenital. Katarak kongenital merupakan opasti atau kekabutan pada kanta kristalin yang boleh menghalang penglihatan. Ia boleh mengakibatkan kekaburan penglihatan yang nyata ataupun secara total. Katarak kongenital biasanya berlaku pada kedua-dua belah mata manakala katarak yang disebabkan oleh trauma selalunya berlaku pada satu mata. Sekiranya katarak tidak dapat dikesan awal, ia boleh menyebabkan deprivasi pada bayi. Ini berlaku disebabkan oleh pengurangan stimulus untuk penglihatan sehinggakan bayi mengalami tahap penglihatan yang lemah. Komplikasi penglihatan yang dapat berlaku akibat pengurangan stimulus penglihatan di awal usia adalah ambliopia, nistagmus dan juling. Rawatan atau rehabilitasi/pemulihan semula penglihatan bagi kanak-kanak akafia perlu disegerakan sejurus setelah pebedahan katarak dilakukan.
