Nusantara
The archipelago is a compound word derived from two ancient Javanese words, ie, and between. The use of this word is more appropriate for the Indonesian archipelago between two oceans and other countries. In the use of modern languages, the term "Nusantara" refers to the environment of Malay culture and linguistic influences which includes the islands of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the southernmost parts of Thailand, the Philippines, Brunei, East Timor and perhaps also Taiwan, but it does not involve Papua New District Guinea. The term "Nusantara" in Malay means Malay and in Indonesian is "Nusantara", although the term is now widely used in Malaysia.
