Pitas

Pitas is a city and district located in Kudat Division of Sabah, Malaysia. It is located on the north of Borneo island. Its population is estimated to be around 38,600 in 2006. The main ethnic composition in Pitas is the tribes of Rungus and Orang Sungai. Pitas was originally called as Tupak meaning "across". This immersion refers to the residence of Momogun Tombonuvo and Momogun Rungus in ancient times. After the commotion of fellow Momogun in Bandau Bay some of the residents of Bandau left the Bandau area due to the Sindaat Mogkorudu attack launched by Aki Palzavan and Aki Sook. Pitas refers to the area or settlement where Sindaat Mogkorudu is no longer in power, next to the Bengkoka River. Since that day, the area known as Tupak was called as Pitas, after crossing the area, the people of the Bandau Bay were no longer a victim of the Black Siraat Mogkorudu attack. The term Pitas comes from the words "NOPITAS" or "MINISTRY" which refers to the definition of "after passing through the area then the people of the Bandau are separated from the power of Sindaat Mogkorudu".

Pitas adalah bandar dan daerah yang terletak di Bahagian Kudat Sabah, Malaysia. Ianya terletak dibahagian utara pulau Borneo. Populasinya dianggarkan kira-kira 38,600 orang pada tahun 2006. Komposisi etnik utama di Pitas adalah suku kaum Rungus dan Orang Sungai. Pitas pada asalnya di panggil sebagai Tupak yang bermakna "seberang". Tupak ini merujuk kepada tempat tinggal Momogun Tombonuvo dan Momogun Rungus pada zaman dahulu. Setelah berlakunya persengketaan sesama Momogun di Teluk Bandau sebilangan penduduk Bandau meninggalkan kawasan Bandau kerana serangan Sindaat Mogkorudu yang di lancarkan oleh Aki Palzavan dan Aki Sook. Pitas merujuk kepada kawasan atau petempatan di mana Sindaat Mogkorudu tidak lagi berkuasa iaitu di sebelah Sungai Bengkoka. Sejak hari itu kawasan tersebut yang di kenali sebagai Tupak turut di panggil sebagai Pitas iaitu setelah menyeberangi kawasan tersebut orang-orang Teluk Bandau tidak lagi menjadi mangsa serangan Ilmu Hitam Sindaat Mogkorudu. Sebutan Pitas berasal dari perkataan "NOPITAS" atau "MINITAS" yang merujuk kepada definisi "selepas melalui kawasan itu maka orang-orang Bandau terlepas dari kuasa Sindaat Mogkorudu".
