Salib atau palang salib adalah lambang agama Kristian yang didirikan di bumbung gereja atau digantung pada leher penganut Kristian. Salib menjadi identiti agama Kristian sejak sekian lama. Lambang ini juga terdapat pada lambang Persatuan Palang Merah Sedunia, bendera Switzerland, Britain, Australia dan lain-lain dengan pelbagai gaya, bentuk, saiz dan warna. Perkataan salib pertama kali diucapkan oleh Jesus di dalam injil matius 10:30"Barangsiapa tidak memikul salibnya dan mengikut Aku, ia tidak layak bagi-Ku". Jesus telah disiksa, dihina, dan diolok-olokan sebelum disalib. Ada ramai orang telah disalibkan sebelum dan selepas Jesus. Jesus dikatakan dipakaikan mahkota duri Inijl Matius27:29"Mereka menganyam sebuah mahkota duri dan menaruhnya di atas kepala-Nya, lalu memberikan Dia sebatang buluh di tangan kanan-Nya. Kemudian mereka berlutut di hadapan-Nya dan mengolok-olokkan Dia, katanya: "Salam, hai Raja orang Yahudi!". Askar Pilatos Pilate menyangka Jesus hendak menjadi raja Israel, maka sebab itulah Jesus diejek dengan mahkota berduri tersebut. Hanya setelah Maharaja Constantine melihat lambang salib dalam mimpi barulah lambang ini digunakan sebagai lambang Kristian.
