WHAT DOES TEKPI MEAN IN MALAY?

Tekpi

The basic form of this weapon is the three-branched with the main branch longer than the left and right branches. The main branches are straight and the branches on the left and right form the U or the buffalo horn. The Malay community named the main branch as a stemstick while the branch was left and right as a sampir. The tip of the turtle-shaped head is known as the eye fly or the flower door. The main branch is usually 15 inches up to 20 inches and is measured according to the suitability of the owner of the weapon. The Tekpi weapon is believed to have originated in China, before reaching Kedah through India and China trade, located in northern Malaysia, bordering on Thailand. It is said to have rooted since 1556 when it was first instructed to the Sultan of Kedah. There is also a claim that Tekpi originated from Indonesia before spreading to Malaysia, India, China, Indochina, and Okinawa. In Indonesia it is known by its branch name and is believed to be taken as a result of the Indian tricula, while in Okinawa in Ryukyu it is known as sai.
