aerenchyma

You are airborne

Miękisz powietrzny

You get air, aerenchyma, air tissue - one of the types of tissue that is characterized by large intercellular spaces, filled with air. Tissue is most commonly caused by the activity of the fellogen. It can also be a result of the transformation of primary bark, and sometimes wood. Aerenchyma occurs in underwater plants, increasing their buoyancy and facilitating lifting. Large volume of cellular space is an internal reservoir of gases used in plant metabolism. Aerenchyma is also present in the respiratory roots of mangroves. It creates a system of ventilation ducts that allow the gases to move freely within the plant. It grows in place of the cork layer on the stems and roots under water. Air tissue cells have thin walls. Cells have a large volume in the body part under water. By the water, gradually the tissue takes on the character of the cork layer.
