Aretology - a philosophical discipline dealing with the study of efficiency, virtue and fault. Cardinal virtues: prudence, moderation, valor, justice. This is also the ethical view of the role of love and friendship in human life. Omawia się tu także z etycznego punktu widzenia rolę miłości i przyjaźni w ludzkim życiu. Klasyczny wykład z teorii sprawności dał Arystoteles, rozwinął św. Tomasz z Akwinu, a pojęcie cnoty we współczesnej etyce odnowił Scheler.
