Secession (art)

Secesja (sztuka)

Secession - style in European art of the last decade of the nineteenth and first centuries, included in the modernism. The essence of Art Nouveau was to strive for a stylish unity of art by combining activities in all its fields, in particular art craft, interior architecture, sculpture and graphics. The characteristic features of the Art Nouveau style are: liquid, wavy lines, abstract or vegetative ornamentation, Japanese art inspirations, free compositions, asymmetry, plane and linearism and subtle pastel colors. In France and in Anglo-Saxon countries this style is called Art Nouveau, Jugendstil or Sezessionsstil in Germany, Stile floreale in Italy or Stile liberty in Italy. For the immediate period of secession, the 1980s are considered to be the beginning of the nineteenth century. Its mature form reached its peak in the mid-1990s with its popularity and potential in 1900. In the second half of the 90's, style spread throughout Europe, resulting in the development of national varieties of style. Secesja – styl w sztuce europejskiej ostatniego dziesięciolecia XIX wieku i pierwszego XX wieku, zaliczany w ramy modernizmu. Istotą secesji było dążenie do stylowej jedności sztuki dzięki łączeniu działań w różnych jej dziedzinach, a w szczególności rzemiosła artystycznego, architektury wnętrz, rzeźby i grafiki.
