Burgas is a city in south-eastern Bulgaria, in the Black Sea of ​​Burgas. It is the administrative center of the Burgas district and the Burgas municipality. The town was founded in the 18th century on the site of the 14th-century fortress Pirgos. Today it is an important cultural, tourist, industrial and fishing center. It is a well-known health resort. It has the largest international airport in Bulgaria. Burgas has about 200 thousand. The population is fourth, after Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna, the Bulgarian city in terms of population. In the immediate vicinity of the city there are three lakes. In the city center there is a large park with a statue of Adam Mickiewicz, who spent several months in the city at the end of his life. Interestingly, one of the streets in the city center was named after the Polish poet. In the city is the Burgas train station.

Burgas – miasto w południowo-wschodniej Bułgarii, nad Zatoką Burgaską Morza Czarnego. Jest ośrodkiem administracyjnym obwodu Burgas i gminy Burgas. Miasto zostało założone w XVIII wieku na miejscu XIV-wiecznej warowni Pirgos. Obecnie jest ważnym ośrodkiem kulturalnym, turystycznym, przemysłowym i portem rybackim. Stanowi znane uzdrowisko. Posiada największy w całej Bułgarii międzynarodowy port lotniczy. Burgas liczy ok. 200 tys. mieszkańców, dzięki czemu jest czwartym, po Sofii, Płowdiwie i Warnie, miastem w Bułgarii pod względem liczby mieszkańców. W bezpośredniej bliskości miasta znajdują się trzy jeziora. W centrum miasta znajduje się obszerny park, w którym stoi pomnik Adama Mickiewicza, który spędził w tym mieście kilka miesięcy u schyłku życia. Co ciekawe imieniem polskiego poety nazwana została także jedna z ulic w centrum miasta. W mieście znajduje się stacja kolejowa Burgas.
