Großglockner, Grossglockner - the highest peak in Austria with an altitude of 3798 m. It is located in the Glocknergruppe, a sub-group of the High Taur Mountains, part of the Central Alps. Second to the peak of the Alps. It rises above the glacier of the Shepherds, to which the car road leads - a branch running along the glacier road. The difficulty of the easiest way to the top is determined by the PD +. The main vertex was first acquired on July 28, 1800. The distinctive shape of the summit consists of two peaks - Großglockner and Kleinglockner. A small, narrow pass called the Glocknerscharte. At the top is a cross with a weight of 350 kg, called imperial. It was set on the 25th anniversary of the wedding of Francis Joseph I with Elisabeth Wittelsbach. The cross was brought to the top in parts and assembled there. In 2000 it was renovated. First Polish entrance to the summit: Ludwik Chałubiński with guides in 1884 or 1885. Großglockner belongs to the Crown of Europe.

Großglockner, Grossglockner – najwyższy szczyt Austrii o wysokości 3798 m n.p.m. Znajduje się w Glocknergruppe, podgrupie górskiej Wysokich Taurów, części Alp Centralnych. Drugi co do wybitności szczyt Alp. Wznosi się ponad lodowcem Pasterze, do którego prowadzi droga samochodowa – odgałęzienie przebiegającej obok drogi glocknerskiej. Stopień trudności najłatwiejszej drogi na szczyt określany jest na PD+. Wierzchołek główny pierwszy raz zdobyty został 28 lipca 1800 roku. Na charakterystyczny kształt szczytu składają się dwa wierzchołki – Großglockner oraz Kleinglockner. Rozdziela je mała, wąska przełęcz nazywana Glocknerscharte. Na szczycie znajduje się krzyż o masie 350 kg, zwany cesarskim. Ustawiony został w 25. rocznicę ślubu Franciszka Józefa I z Elżbietą Wittelsbach. Krzyż wniesiony został na szczyt w częściach i tam zmontowany. W 2000 r. poddano go renowacji. Pierwsze polskie wejście na szczyt: Ludwik Chałubiński z przewodnikami w 1884 lub 1885 roku. Großglockner należy do Korony Europy.
