PRONUNCIATION OF HELLERTION IN POLISH

hellertion

WHAT DOES HELLERTION MEAN IN POLISH?

Hellertion

Hellertion - a musical instrument from the group of electromechanical electromagnets constructed by German engineers Peter Lertes and Brunon Helberger in 1929. The instrument was based on the RLC harmonic oscillator. The novelty was the use of a sensitive belt, instead of a keyboard or multi-position switch, that moved the finger to change the characteristics of the oscillator. The strap was a leather-covered lining, where resistance changed with the finger pressure in different places. So it was basically a resistor with variable resistance. The sound was about five octaves. Since the instrument did not have its own costume, it required the player to have good hearing and experience in choosing where to find the sound of music. The instrument was, in fact, a prototype of a resistive sensor with variable resistance. The first models of the instrument were mono. Later on, a polyphonic effect was achieved using four or six oscillators and control resistors.
