Dutch windmill - a type of windmill characterized by a fixed, massive body, on which is mounted a rotating roof-mounted propeller. This made it easier to adjust the windmill propeller to the wind direction. The emergence of the first single tower windmills with a movable roof is dated to the end of the 14th century. This type of windmill was eventually built in the North of Holland. It was built in the 17th century by Jan Andriasz Leeghwater. In 1750 the "holendors" were refined by A. Meikle. He placed the windmill on the opposite side to the large wings. The helicopters with the help of a helical gearbox adjusted the self-adjusting of the cap with the large propellers in relation to the wind. The cap moved on the cast iron rolls that moved on the cast iron ring fixed on the stationary part of the windmill. They have been used extensively in most European countries. In the 18th century they became popular in Poland, but gained popularity only in the western territories of Poland and never displaced traditional barons.

Wiatrak holenderski – typ wiatraka charakteryzujący się nieruchomym, masywnym korpusem, na którym umocowana jest obracana na łożysku bryła dachowa ze śmigłami. Pozwalało to łatwiej dostosować śmigła wiatraka do kierunku wiatru. Powstanie pierwszych, pojedynczych wiatraków wieżyczkowych z ruchomą częścią dachową jest datowane na koniec XIV w. Ten typ wiatraka powstał ostatecznie w północnej Holandii. Skonstruował go w XVII w. Jan Andriasz Leeghwater. W 1750 "holendry" udoskonalone zostały przez A. Meikle. Na czapie umieścił wiatraczek po przeciwległej stronie w stosunku do dużych skrzydeł. Wiatraczek za pomocą przekładni palecznych regulował samoczynnie ustawienie czapy wraz z dużymi śmigłami w stosunku do wiatru. Czapa poruszała się na żeliwnych rolkach posuwających się po żeliwnym pierścieniu umocowanym na nieruchomej części wiatraka. Szybko zaczęto je stosować w większości krajów europejskich. W XVIII w. rozpowszechniły się w Polsce, ale zyskały popularność tylko na zachodnich terytoriach Polski i nigdy nie wyparły tradycyjnych koźlaków.
