Mamluks

Mamelucy

Mamluks - slaves to the state, not originally Islamic and non-Islamic. They were bought by Muslim rulers and brought to their authorities, converted to Islam and trained in combat, in order to form their own military troop. At times, especially at the beginning of the Abbasid caliphate, but also in the Egyptian Sultan Mameluk, the Mamluks were also war prisoners. The Mamluks were founded in the ninth century in the caliphate of the Abbasids, but are associated mainly with the Mamluks of the ruling Egyptian Ajubi dynasty, who overthrew the ruling family and founded the Mamluk sultanate. This sultanate existed until the conquest of Egypt by Selim the Cruel of the Osman dynasty in 1517. Despite the fall of their state in Egypt, the Mamluks' institution survived until their extermination by Muhammad Ali in 1811. The Mamluks also reached a great deal in Muslim India, where, just after the Muslim conquest, they initiated the so-called " "Slave dynasty". Instytucja mameluków powstała w IX wieku w kalifacie Abbasydów, lecz kojarzona jest głównie z mamelukami rządzącej w Egipcie dynastii Ajjubidów, którzy obalili rodzinę panującą i założyli sułtanat mameluków. „dynastii niewolniczej”.
