Or powstaje z połączenia rzek Szyly i Terysbutak spływających z zachodnich zboczy Mugodżarów, Płynie na północ, przecina granicę kazachsko-rosyjską i uchodzi do Uralu kilka km w górę od Orska. Wody używane do nawadniania. Zamarza na okres od listopada do marca.
