Orator

Orator

Orator, or retor - a speaker who has mastered the art of rhetoric, can speak publicly and convince listeners to his or her reasons. In the culture of ancient Greece and Rome, the name rhetor, orator referred, among others. to the speaker at the congregation, the politician, the teacher of speech. Not only perfect speech, but also intellect, philosophical knowledge and proper moral attitude were required. The formula of the Katon Elder: Orator est vir bonus, dicendi peritus. Numerous rhetoric textbooks offered tips and exercises to help the speaker improve his ability to speak. The high requirements were related to the fact that Greek-Roman culture was the culture of living words, and the speeches could decide the political or judicial success. Famous ancient speakers: Gorgias, Pericles, Demosthenes and Isocrates, Cicero, Kato Elders, Quincylians. The famous speakers of modern times include: Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Charles de Gaulle, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Ronald Reagan, Fidel Castro and Bill Clinton. Słynni mówcy starożytni: Gorgiasz, Perykles, Demostenes i Izokrates, Cyceron, Kato Starszy, Kwintylian. Słynni mówcy czasów nowożytnych to m.in.: Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Charles de Gaulle, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Ronald Reagan, Fidel Castro, Bill Clinton.
