Plankton

Plankton (plankton - wandering) - a group of living organisms floating in water. Even if they have motion organs, they are too weak for these organisms to actively resist water currents and winds, but enough to passively stay in suspension. Usually plankton is a small organism, but it also includes jellyfish, which can be large in size. Plankton is the food of many aquatic animals. The name of plankton was used as the first German zoologist Victor Hensen in 1887. Plankton research deals with plankton (individual groups may be subjected to the study of relevant sciences such as algology or environmental microbiology). Plankton is divided into: ▪ zooplankton (plankton) - plankton composed of heterotrophic eukaryotic organisms: protozoa, rotifers, crustaceans, ▪ phytoplankton (plankton) - plankton ... Plankton (gr. planktós – błąkający się) – zespół organizmów żywych unoszących się w wodzie. Nawet jeśli mają narządy ruchu, to są one zbyt słabe, by organizmy te mogły się aktywnie przeciwstawić prądom wodnym i wiatrom, wystarczą natomiast do biernego utrzymywania się w stanie zawieszenia. Zazwyczaj plankton stanowią drobne organizmy, ale zalicza się do niego również meduzy, które mogą mieć znaczne rozmiary. Plankton stanowi pożywienie wielu zwierząt wodnych. Nazwy plankton użył jako pierwszy niemiecki zoolog Victor Hensen w 1887 roku. Badaniami dotyczącymi planktonu zajmuje się planktologia (poszczególne grupy mogą być obiektem badań odpowiednich nauk, takich jak algologia lub mikrobiologia środowiskowa). Plankton dzieli się na: ▪ zooplankton (plankton zwierzęcy) - plankton złożony z heterotroficznych organizmów eukariotycznych: pierwotniaki, wrotki, skorupiaki, ▪ fitoplankton (plankton roślinny) - plankton...
