Ringgit is a monetary unit of Malaysia divided into 100 sleeps. The Ringgit became the Malaysian currency in 1967 when it replaced the Malaysian and British Borneo dollars, which was not called in the Malaysian language ringgit. Until 1975 the currency had a double name: ringgit and dream in Malay and dollar and cents in English.
