Grenache

Grenache is an ink grape from the Vitis Viniferas family. It is one of the most cultivated in the world and adapts well to the hot and dry climate, being used in the production of wines in France, Spain, the United States, Australia and Italy. Generally it produces spicy wines, with aromas of black fruits, soft tannins and relatively high alcohol level. This grape grape tends to have little acidity, tannins and color, and is usually used in cuts with other varieties such as Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault. Grenache is the most planted variety in the south of the Rhône valley, especially in the Châteauneuf-du-pape where it usually represents around 80% of the cut. In the Autralia is usually mixed with the Shiraz and Mourvedre, court known as "GSM". Grenache is also widely used for rosé wines in France and Spain, notably in the Tavel denomination in the Côtes du Rhône. Its high sugar level also makes it used extensively in fortified wines, including Roussillon vins doux naturels the Banyuls, and as the basis of most of Australia's fortified wines.
