Judo

Judô

Judo or Judo is a combat sport practiced as a martial art, founded by Jigoro Kano in 1882. Its main objectives are to strengthen the physique, mind and spirit in an integrated way, in addition to developing self defense techniques. Judo was widely accepted around the world as Kano was able to bring together the essence of the main styles and schools of jujutsu, martial art practiced by the bushi, or knights during the Kamakura period, to other fighting arts practiced in the East, them in a single and basic. Judo was considered official sport in Japan in the late nineteenth century and the Japanese police introduced it to their training. The first judoka club in Europe was the London Budokway. The dress used in this mode is the keikogi, which in judo is called judogi and which, with the belt, forms the necessary equipment for its practice. The judogi which consists of the jacket, the pants and also the strip, the judogi can be white or blue, although the blue is almost only used to facilitate arbitrations in official championships.
