Macro, in Computer Science, is an abstraction that defines how an input pattern should be replaced by an output pattern, according to a set of rules. There are three macro branches, each with different input and output patterns: ▪ Programming macros have a computer program as input and return as output a new, expanded program. Such a process is called macro expansion, and the tool that does this is called the macro-expander, or simply the preprocessor. For many programming languages ​​the macro-expander is included in the interpreter or compiler. Such macros allow the use of high level abstractions in programming languages. ▪ Keyboard or mouse macros and application macros have a command as input and return a new and expanded set of commands or instructions as output. Such macros are typically used to automate frequently used instruction sequences, movements, or rules.
